Driving & Parking

Downtown Burlington is accessed via I89 from the north and east, and by Route 7 from the south. Find mapping tools here. We are one block east of the shopping and restaurants on Church Street.

Park next to the library in our metered city parking lot, at on-street metered parking spots, or in nearby city parking garages which offer two hours of free parking. For complete information about parking downtown, along with parking rates, visit parkburlington.com.

We are happy to make change at the front desk for parking meters.

Public Transportation

We are 3 blocks from the GMT Downtown Transit Center at 100 Cherry Street. Green Mountain Transit’s bus routes serve Chittenden County and beyond. See their schedules.

If traveling from out-of-state, we are within walking distance to the Burlington Amtrak Stop. We are a short drive from the Burlington International Airport and a slightly longer drive from the Essex Junction Amtrak Stop.

By Bike or By Foot

Burlington has bike lanes and walk/bike paths throughout the city and extending to neighboring communities. Map your route to the library using the Local Motion Walk/Bike Map.

We have bike racks in front of the library, and bike locks to check out if you forget yours!

Accommodations

The Fletcher Free Library is in walking distance from several hotels downtown, including Hotel Vermont, Hilton Garden Inn, and Hilton Lake Champlain.

Accessibility

  • The Fletcher Free Library is ADA accessible.

  • Service animals are permitted in the library. Animals brought into library buildings must always remain under the control of the owner and not create a disturbance.

  • Gendered restrooms for the general public are located on the Mezzanine level.

    There are gender neutral, ADA accessible restrooms located in the Children’s library and the Basement level.

  • NFCF will have ASL and Spanish Interpreters available throughout the event, upon request at NFCF’s info table.

  • Children must be supervised by an adult at all times. Some comic materials may not be suited for young children.

    The nursing of children is welcome in the Library's Youth Department. The Library also has a small space for nursing parents with a comfortable chair away from the public spaces. To use this space, please check in with the Youth Librarians to access it.
